Golf: CCC Places 7th at Nebraska Intercollegiate Tournament

The Central Community College golf team posted a 7th place finish out of 13 teams at the Nebraska Intercollegiate Tournament on Saturday at the Norfolk Country Club. Normally a two-day event, the tournament was shortened to one day due to inclement weather and wet field conditions on Friday.

As a team, the Raiders posted a score of 312 and was the top community college finisher among two entrants. Northeast Community College took 13th place with a team score of 339. The overall team winner was the University of Nebraska-Kearney (299), followed by Bellevue University (302) and Hastings College (304).

"This is the best finish and score achieved by a CCC golf team in recent memory," said head coach Britt Blackwell. "The boys maintained their focus and played well for the entire round."

Individually, Colten Remm (pictured right) shot a 73 for the day to lead CCC, which also earned him a medal for placing in the top 10 in scoring. Caden Remm, Colten's twin brother, finished with a 76, while Nathan Grossnicklaus fired a 78. Sophomore Marshall Dreifurst shot an 85.

"What a great way for the team to finish the season," said Blackwell. "The boys now know they can compete against larger schools and hold their own. It's a huge confidence booster."

The Nebraska Intercollegiate Tournament, sponsored by the Nebraska Golf Association, is the final event of the fall for the CCC golf team. The Raiders will return to the course in the spring.
