Volleyball: Spenner Joins CCC Coaching Bench

Central Community College athletics has announced the appointment of Bree Spenner as a volleyball coach. She will serve as an assistant coach for the 2025 season and then transition to head coach in 2026. Current head coach Mary Young will hand over her coaching responsibilities to fully concentrate on her role as director of athletics.

Spenner comes to CCC after serving as an assistant coach at North Dakota-based University of Mary in from 2021-2024. Prior to that, she was an English teacher and volleyball coach at Scotus Central Catholic High School in Columbus.

"I am beyond grateful to be a part of the Raiders volleyball program," Spenner said. "It is no doubt Mary Young has built a program of excellence, and as I transition into the head coaching position, I'm excited to learn from her, the volleyball staff, athletics department and faculty at Central Community College. It is an honor to be back in the good life and a member of the CCC community."

Spenner played collegiate volleyball at Wayne State College where she was a member of the 2015 team that reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division II National Volleyball Tournament. The Wildcats finished the season with a mark of 28-8. Spenner was inducted into the Wayne State College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.

Bree's passion for the sport and commitment to developing student-athletes align perfectly with our goals at Central Community College. I'm excited to see the future of CCC volleyball under her leadership."

A 2018 Wayne State graduate, Spenner earned a bachelor of science in English education. In 2022, she earned her master's degree in English from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

She and her husband, Josh, reside in Columbus with their daughter, Zaylee.
