Volleyball: Raiders sweep Southeast CC

The Central Community College volleyball team defeated Southeast Community College 3-0 on Wednesday night at Raider Fieldhouse.

The first set was very one-sided, with the Raiders pull getting the definitive win, 25-13. The second set was a little more even, as CCC edged out a 25-19 set win to go up 2-0. CCC was met with some adversity in the third set, the closest set of the match. The Raiders still were able to close it out, 25-23, despite the late push from Southeast. This makes six sweeps out of the Raider's nine wins.

Lauryn Scott had a team-high 11 kills, three assisted blocks and one solo. Libbie Ball amassed a whopping 48 assists, and Maleigha Johnson accounted for 22 digs.

"Our team played with great energy and really controlled the first set off of serve," CCC head coach Mary Young said. "We executed well on both sides of the ball and that shows with our ball distribution and balance of our hitters.  We held our composure in the third set and I was proud of our grit to finish the match in a sweep."

The Raiders are back in action this Friday at Western Iowa Tech CC.
