Volleyball: Raiders Win Fifth Straight

The Central Community College volleyball team posted a 3-2 win at McCook Community College on Wednesday night.

The Raiders were poised for a shutout victory when they won the first two games, 25-13 and 26-24. However, the Indians tied the match at two-games apiece when they won sets three and four, 25-13 and 25-20. The Raiders took the match with a 15-11 victory in the decisive fifth game.

"This was a great road win for us," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "We took control early in the match by wining the first two sets, but we struggled in the final three. I was proud of our effort in the fourth set when we gained the momentum to win."

Lakeview High School grad Josie Bentz topped CCC in kills with 11 while Lauryn Scott and Olivia Swanson each totaled nine. Additionally, Scott had six assisted blocks and one solo block. Libbie Ball tallied 41 assists, 11 digs and three aces. Ali Miller finished with 18 digs.

With the win, the Raiders have won five matches in a row and sport a record of 9-3.

The Raiders remain on the road for a 6 p.m. meeting this evening at North Platte Community College. The Knights are 5-11 on the season and have won two straight.
