Volleyball: NW Plains District Playoff Recap

The Central Community College volleyball team lost to Bismarck (N.D.) State College in the Northwest Plains District Playoff on Friday and Saturday at the Raider Fieldhouse. A recap of each match in the best-of -three tournament is below. With the losses, the Raiders finish the 2022 season with a mark of 17-21.

Match 1: Bismarck State College 3  CCC 1

The Raiders and the Mystics opened the best-of-three tournament with close battle in the opening set, which was won by Bismarck State, 30-28. The Mystics went up 2-0 with a 25-20 final in the second set. The Raiders responded with a 25-17 victory in the third set before Bismarck State took the match with a 26-16 win in the fourth set.

Chelsea Fisher and Ashley Brown led the Raiders in kills with 14 and 11, respectively, while Kamryn Chohon dished out 50 assists. Jill Kelly finished with 22 digs.

Match 2: Bismarck State College 3  CCC 2

The Raiders were in position for a sweep when they went up 2-0 with a 25-20 win in the opening set followed by a 25-22 victory in the second set. The Mystics answered with a pair of wins, 25-20 and 28-36. Bismarck State took the match and earned a spot in the national tournament with a 15-7 win in the decisive fifth set.

Kennedi Branigan totaled 16 kills while Chohon tallied 49 assists. Kelly finished with 24 digs.
