Volleyball: Raiders Split at Cowley Tourney

The CCC volleyball team went 2-2 at the Cowley (Kan.) Invitational Tournament. A recap of each match is below. The Raiders are 10-15 on the season and will host Southeast Community College on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Match 1 vs. Metropolitan (Mo.) Community College

The Raiders opened the Cowley Invitational with a 3-0 win over the Wolves. The final scores were 27-25, 26-24 and 25-8.

Kennedi Branigan logged a dozen kills while Morgan Juranek added 10. Kamryn Chohon recorded 44 assists and Jill Kelly made 21 digs.

Match 2 vs. Cowley (Kan.) College

The host Tigers shut out the Raiders by final scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-13.

Ashley Brown led CCC in kills with eight while Chohon finished with a dozen assists and 11 digs.

Match 3 vs. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College

The Raiders posted their second shutout of the tournament with a 3-0 victory over the Lady Norse. The final scores read 25-12, 25-10 and 25-16.

Katee Korte tallied 11 kills while Chohon logged 31 assists and a dozen digs.

Match 4 vs. Des Moines (Iowa) Area Community College

The Raiders closed out the Cowley Invitational with a 3-1 loss to the Bears. CCC made it look easy in the first set with a 25-12 victory. However, DMACC took the match with three straight wins – 27-25, 25-17 and 25-19.

Kortee and Chelsea Fisher led CCC in kills with 18 and 10, respectively. Chohon totaled 41 assists and Kelly posted 18 digs.
