Volleyball: Raiders Shut Out Storm

The Central Community College volleyball team defeated Southeast Community College, 3-0, on Wednesday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

The final scores were 25-19, 25-21 and 25-23.

Ashley Brown totaled a dozen kills to lead the Raiders while Kamryn Chohon finished with 38 assists. Brown and Josie Richards each logged 11 digs while Jill Kelly chipped in with 10.

"I was happy we got the win over Southeast," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "We definitely had some moments of struggle and our team rallied together to find a way to finish each set on top. I was really proud of our resolve and how each player contributed."

The 8-13 Raiders will take part in the Cowley Invitational Tournament this weekend in Arkansas City, Kan. On Friday, CCC will battle Metropolitan (Mo.) Community College at 4 p.m. followed by a meeting with the host Tigers at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Raiders will take on Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College at 9 a.m. before closing out tournament play against Des Moines (Iowa) Area Community College at 1 p.m.
