Volleyball: CCC and MCC Go Five Rounds

The Central Community College volleyball team lost at McCook Community College, 3-2, on Wednesday night.

The Indians won the opening set, 25-19, before the Raiders evened the match with a 25-21 victory in game two. McCook won big in the third set, 25-9, but Central forced a fifth set with a 25-22 win in the fourth game. The Indians took the match with a 15-11 victory in game five.

Ashley Brown led CCC in kills with 15 while Kennedi Branigan (pictured #2) totaled 11 and Chelsea Richards logged 10. Kamryn Chohon recorded 36 assists, one ace and one solo block. Jill Kelly finished with 26 digs.

"It's always a tough game in McCook and we competed and really were in position to win," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "In the final stages, we played tight and didn't go for it, which is exactly what McCook did. We must get to that mindset and once we do, we will really be a force."

The 6-13 Raiders have a quick turnaround as they play at North Platte Community College on Thursday night. The first serve is set for 6 p.m.
