The Central Community College volleyball team dropped both matches at the Blue Dragon Classic hosted by Hutchinson Community College on Friday and Saturday. A recap of each match is below.
The Raiders are 5-9 and will be back in action on Wednesday with a home match against Southeast Community College. The Storm are 4-5 on the season. The match begins at 7 p.m.
Match 1 vs. Hutchinson Community College
The host Blue Dragons shutout the Raiders, 3-0, on opening day. The final scores were 25-17, 25-12 and 25-20.
Jordan Wegner posted eight kills and a pair of blocks, while Chloe Odbert dished out 20 assists. Devyn Erickson and Khloe Felker each posted 10 digs. Michaela Dukes served up two aces.
Match 2 vs. Jefferson College
The Vikings claimed a 3-1 victory over the Raiders. The teams split the first two sets with Jefferson winning the first set, 25-19, followed by CCC taking the second set, 25-21. The Vikings won the third set, 25-25, and took the match with a 25-18 triumph in the final set.
Wegner recorded nine kills and three blocks, while Odbert was tops in assists with 23. Felker again logged 10 digs, while Erickson recorded a pair of aces.
"We made some more really good strides in the match against Jefferson College," said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. "We played tough and scrappy on defense but couldn't quite put it together on the offensive side."
