Volleyball: CCC Upends DMACC

The Central Community College volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-1 victory at Des Moines Area Community College on Friday night.

The Bears opened the match with a 25-18 win in the first set. The Raiders responded in a big way by taking three consecutive sets – 25-22, 25-22 and 25-23.

Jordan Wegner and Abbe Mancuso led CCC in kills with 15 and 10, respectively. Rylee Kwapnioski tallied 35 assists, while Kamri Adler totaled 17 digs.

"DMACC is a good team, so getting the win on the road is big going into the regional tournament," said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. "We blocked really well and that helped us shut down some of their bigger hitters. We also served tough, which put them out of system."

With the win, the Raiders finished the 2019 season with a mark of 18-17.

Up next, CCC will take part in the Region IX tournament, hosted by Southeast Community College. On Friday, the Raiders will meet the SCC Storm at 4 p.m. If CCC wins, it would meet North Platte Community College at 6:30 p.m. If the Raiders lose the opening game, they would meeting the loser of Friday's second game on Saturday at 10 a.m.
