Volleyball: Raiders Go 3-1 At Central Classic

The Central Community College volleyball team went 3-1 at its own Central Classic at Raider Fieldhouse. A brief recap of each match is below. The 3-1 Raiders will return to action on Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. match at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

Match 1 vs. Brookhaven College

The Raiders swept the Bears, 3-0, in the opening round of the Central Classic. The final scores were 25-8, 25-21, 25-14.

Abbe Mancuso led CCC in kills with eight, while Miranda Summers logged 29 assists. Kamri Adler finished with 16 digs.

Match 2 vs. Iowa Central Community College

The Tritons defeated the Raiders in four sets. ICCC took the first game, 25-17, followed by CCC taking the second, 25-20. The Tritons finished off the match with wins in the third and fourth set, 25-21 and 25-17.

Mancuso was tops in kills with 11, while Summers tallied 34 assists. Adler logged 20 digs.

Match 3 vs. Johnson County Community College

The Raiders needed five sets to defeat the #3 ranked Cavaliers. JCCC won the first game, 25-21, while CCC claimed the second game, 27-25. The Cavaliers won big in the third set, 25-10, to which the Raiders answered back in the same fashion, 25-14, in the fourth set. CCC then duked out a 16-14 final in the fifth game to take the match.

Mancuso registered 17 kills, while Summers logged a season-high 50 assists. Adler totaled 13 digs.

Match 4 vs. Metropolitan Community College-Longview

The Wolves also took the Raiders to five sets before CCC emerged victorious. CCC won the first, 25-10, while Longview won the second, 25-23. The Wolves moved ahead with a 30-28 final in game three, which was followed by a CCC win in game four, 25-20, to even the match. CCC won the match with a 15-10 final in the fifth set.

Mancuso had 13 kills, while Shania Borchers and Devyn Erickson each chipped in 10. Rylee Kwapnioski posted 33 assists, while Adler and Erickson finished with 25 and 24 digs, respectively.

"I was really proud of the weekend overall," said CCC head coach Abby Pollart. "It took all thirteen of our girls to be successful, which is something we have been talking about since day one. While we had some great moments, we still have plenty of room to grow and get better."
