Women's Soccer: Raiders Coast in Home Opener

The Central Community College women's soccer team defeated Dakota Technical College, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon at Raider Field.

This was the season home opener for the Raiders, and they started their season with a bang. 

Shortly after the game started, freshman from Belgium Lea Cordier, scored a goal from deep assisted by Lened Reyes-Estrada, to put the Raiders up, 1-0. Shortly after Cordier's first goal, she scored her second, assisted by Layla Russell.  The Raiders scored seven consecutive goals from Eagan Clark (assisted by Lois Taylor), Lily Tilyard (assisted by Cordier), Taylor (assisted by Cordier), Cordier (assisted by Ruby Macias), Ellie Bates (assisted by Cordier), Taylor (assisted by Ellie Bates) and the last goal was put in by Cordier (assisted by Lois Taylor).

Cordier broke the Central Community College record for goals with four and she broke the CCC record for assists with three.

"I am happy with how our team performed," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We started quite a bit as freshmen and they stepped up for us. We still have some improvements to make going forward."

The women's soccer team picks up their first home win, starting 1-0 on the season.
