The Central Community College softball team split a pair of games with McCook Community College.
The Raiders took the opener by the count of 5-4, while the Indians won the second game, 7-3.
In the first game, McCook was leading 3-0 in the fifth inning when the CCC bats came to life as Andrea Fernandez and McKinley Josoff each belted a triple as the Raiders built a 4-3 lead. CCC's Shaylee Chilewski scored what turned out to be the game-wining run in the sixth inning. The Indians added a run in the seventh inning, but that's as close as they could get, and the Raiders held on for the win. Lilly Cast was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, the score was tied at 1-1 heading into the fifth inning. That's when the Indians scored three runs, followed by two runs in the sixth to go up 6-1. McCook scored its final run in the top of the seventh, while CCC could only score two runs in the bottom of the inning. Elle Douglas took the loss for the Raiders.
"This was our first time back since our spring break trip to Kansas and we really tried to focus on limiting errors and we did that exactly," said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon, noting two errors in each of the games.
