Men’s Soccer: Raiders Win in Double OT

Ivan Lopez scored the game-winning goal to boost CCC to a 3-2 double-overtime win against Southeast Community College on Wednesday at Raider Field.

Lopez found the back of the net in the 104th minute with Charlie Osler on the assist. The goal was Lopez' second of the day.

The Storm logged a pair of goals in the first half to go up 2-0. The Raiders evened the score at 2-2 with an unassisted goal by Lopez in the 24th minute and a Marc Ackerman goal in the 43rd minute with Dayethan Nelson on the assist. The scoring remained dormant for some 61 minutes until Lopez broke the tie to give the Raiders a 3-2 victory.

"This was an important result for us in an effort to qualify for the region playoffs," said CCC head coach Luis Pulido. "The team battled hard and also secured a Region 9 championship with this win. It was a good result overall."

CCC netminder Rodolfo Ramirez recorded six saves.

With the win, Central improves to 7-6-2.

Up next, the Raiders will take on Pratt (Kan.) Community College on Saturday at Raider Field. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
