The Central Community College golf team went to Niobrara, NE to play in the Mount Marty Tatanaka Invitational at Tatanka Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday this week.
The conditions on day 1 were very difficult with 25-40 MPH winds, and we saw Raiders Jude Elgert and Spencer Knispel put their heads down and grind out great rounds of 83 & 81. This set them up in sixth place and ninth placing going to day 2 of the Invitational.
Going into the second day in a great spot, sadly we could not finish too well on a fantastic conditioned day 2.
Spencer Knispel shot a tournament 166 to finish 16th overall and Jude Elgert with a 168 to finish 19th overall. The team finished fifth place out of six teams.
"I loved to see the drive from Jude and Spencer on day 1 through those tough conditions. Our 3-5 struggled greatly on the golf side as well as the mental side," head coach Sam Elgert said. "On day 2 we did not have our best golf and we let ourselves get past by teams we were capable of beating. We need to improve in spots going forward."
Raiders in action on Friday and Saturday this week at Lochland CC in Hastings, NE.
