Men’s Basketball: SCC Holiday Classic Recap

The Central Community College men's basketball team split a pair of games at the SCC Holiday Classic in Beatrice over the weekend. A recap of each game is below. The Raiders are 9-7 and are off until Wednesday, Jan. 8. CCC will take on Northeast Community College in Norfolk at 7 p.m.

Game 1 vs. Highland Community College

The Scotties held off the Raiders, 83-77, in an offensive shootout.

CCC's Tre'vion Crawford scored a game-high 38 points, 27 of which were scored from three-point range. Tre Mekkelsen added 14 points.

"We competed for 40 minutes against a quality team, but we couldn't quite get the one stop we needed to in the final minutes to get us over the hump," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "Tre had a great game and it was good to see the ball go in for him at a high rate from the perimeter."

Game 2 vs. Next Level Prep

The Raiders bounced back and posted a 98-89 victory over Next Level Prep.

Five CCC players scored in double figures with Crawford once again leading the charge with 25 points. Mikkelsen scored 23 points, while Nathan Frost notched a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Roman Behrens recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. Dwight Glover also scored a dozen points.

"After a sluggish first half, we had some guys really step up in the second half," said Ritzdorf. Both Tres hit some shots, Roman pushed the tempo, Dwight did a great job attacking the basket and Nathan was much more aggressive as well. We've had a ton of games to start the season and it's great heading into break with a win."
