Bio

Argon Stern enters his first year at Central Community College as graduate assistant coach for both Men’s and Women’s Basketball in 2025-26. He is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Athletic Coaching at Concordia University, Nebraska.

Argon comes to Columbus after spending the 2024-2205 season as the men’s basketball assistant coach at NJCAA institution, Dakota College at Bottineau (Bottineau, ND). While in Bottineau, some of his main duties within the team included recruiting, developing scouting reports, and player development. Stern also worked part-time at the school cafeteria.

Prior to this, Argon traveled to Hailey, Idaho to work as boys’ varsity basketball assistant coach at Wood River High School. The Wolverines finished the year 14-9 and earned the highest seed in school history within the conference. During his time in Idaho, he also worked a full-time job as a laundry driver at the local ski resort.

Argon graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Environmental Science in 2022. During his time at ASU, Stern worked as a Basketball Video Scout at Sports Info Solutions. Prior to Arizona State, he played basketball at Division 3 Grinnell College (Grinnell, IA) for his freshman year.

In late 2020, Argon interned for pro basketball trainer Vaughn Compton, where he helped with workouts for professional, collegiate, and high school athletes including NBA draft picks such as Nico Mannion.

Argon was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He also spent a total of three years living in China, New Zealand, and Singapore while in his youth. Argon is the son of Tong Li and has an older brother, Neon. Argon attended Arcadia High School in Phoenix, where he graduated as salutatorian and National Merit Scholar.
