Volleyball: Raiders Dispatch Comets

The 13th ranked Central Community College volleyball team defeated Western Iowa Tech Community College, 3-1, on Friday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

The Raiders opened the match with a 25-11 victory followed by a 25-12 win in the second set. The Comets avoided the shutout with a 25-19 final in the third game. CCC took the match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth game.

Lauryn Scott posted a dozen kills, two solo blocks and five assisted blocks. Libbie Ball dished out 48 assists while Halie Kaslon and Ali Miller finished with 15 digs apiece.

The Raiders' winning streak now stands at eight matches and gives them a record of 12-3.

CCC will resume play on Friday in opening round action of the Cowley Invitational Tournament in Arkansas City, Kan. The Raiders will take on Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 2 p.m. before meeting host Cowley College at 4 p.m. On Saturday, CCC battles Missouri State University-West Plains at 9 a.m. and Metropolitan (Mo.) Community College at 1 p.m.
