Volleyball: Raiders Take Out The Knights

The Central Community College volleyball team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 3-1 victory at North Platte Community College on Wednesday night.

The Raiders took the first two sets – 25-21, 25-20. The Knights took the third set, 25-22, before CCC closed out the match, 25-17.

Jacie Laetsch and Katelynn Halstead led the Raiders with 13 kills each, while Rylee Kwapnioski dished out 37 assists.

"This was a great win for our team," said CCC head coach Mary Young.  "The stat sheets don't measure the great strides we took with our communication, hustle and overall cohesiveness as a unit. It's always a battle with NPCC and to win on the road was really huge for our confidence.

Defensively, Jordee Korte and Susie Vavra each recorded seven assisted blocks.

"Korte and Vavra did a tremendous job of at the net slowing down their attack and I thought that was huge for us," said Young. "Our passers played with a lot of confidence and it allowed our offense to get in a rhythm. Overall, I'm proud of our team and its grit."

The win gives the Raiders a 10-8 mark.

Up next, CCC remains on the road for a Friday night showdown with Northeast Community College. The Raiders and Hawks get underway at 7 p.m.
