Young Named to NJCAA Board of Regents

Central Community College head volleyball coach Mary Young has been named as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) 37-member Board of Regents.

The newly-created body is part of a new NJCAA governance structure and will generate additional opportunities for student-athletes and member colleges by connecting each of the NJCAA's 24 regions on a monthly basis.

Young will represent the NJCAA's Region IX, where she just completed her third year of serving as director of women's sports and previously served for 10 years as the assistant director. Region IX covers Nebraska, Wyoming and eastern Colorado.

"I'm humbled to be selected to represent the member schools of Region IX as a charter member of the NJCAA Board of Regents," said Young, who was elected to the NJCAA Board of Regents by Region IX athletic directors. "Being a former NJCAA Student-Athlete, I take a lot of pride in serving the 60,000 student-athletes within our association. I know the impact of the opportunity that intercollegiate athletics made on me and I look forward to the opportunity to grow with the NJCAA."

Young will serve as chair for the beach volleyball committee and vice chair of the championship events committee. She will also serve on the sanctions and Division II volleyball committees.
