Volleyball: Raiders Fly Past Hawks

The Central Community College volleyball team went the full five games with Northeast Community College before securing a 3-2 victory in the third round of the NJCAA Division II national tournament.

The Hawks opened the match with a 25-21 win over the Raiders in the first set. CCC then posted identical 25-17 victories in sets 2 and 3, followed by Northeast posting a 25-20 triumph in set 4 to force a decisive fifth match. CCC moved on with a 15-8 win.

Jacie Laetsch and Chainey Tompkin led the way in kills with 20 and 19, respectively. Paxton Throne dished out 54 assists, while Lexi Holland led the way in digs with 30.

CCC's win sets up a meeting with Iowa Central Community College on Saturday morning for 9th place in the tournament. The ICCC defeated CCC, 3-1, at the Raider Classic in early October. Saturday morning's contest starts at 8 a.m. CST and live coverage will be available at www.njcaatv.com.
