Volleyball: CCC Calms the Storm

The Central Community College volleyball team defeated Southeast Community College, 3-0, in Beatrice on Wednesday night. The final scores read 25-11, 25-23, 25-20.

Jacie Laetsch and Chainey Thompkin led the Raiders in kills with 11 apiece. Maddie Davis played in place of the injured Paxton Throne and recorded 39 assists. Amber Anderson led with way in digs with 15.

"It was a great win for us," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "In the past week, we have suffered from some key injuries to players and I am pleased with our team effort. Maddie Davis has been fearless in stepping into the setting role and has distributed the ball well."

The victory gives CCC an overall mark of 22-5 heading into this weekend's Ramada Classic at Raider Fieldhouse. In addition to Central Community College, eight other teams will take part. They are Bismarck State College, Cowley County CC, Fort Scott CC, Iowa Central CC, Kansas City Kansas CC, Northeast CC, North Platte CC and Williston State College.

On Friday, the Raiders will take on Williston State at 11 a.m. and KCKCC at 7 p.m. On Saturday, CCC will meet Bismarck State at 11 a.m. and Iowa Central at 5 p.m.
