Volleyball: Raiders Remain Undefeated

The Central Community College volleyball team logged a 3-0 win over Midland JV on Wednesday night at Raider Fieldhouse. The final scores read 26-24, 25-17, 25-22. The victory gives the Raiders a 7-0 mark on the season to close out August.

"Midland JV is a pretty good team," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "They played good defense, moved the ball around and so I was pleased with our effort in sticking to the course and showing a lot of poise and coming through with the win."

Chainey Tompkin and Amber Anderson tied for tops in kills with eight apiece. Paxton Throne finished the night with 27 assists, while libero Jessica Eurek totaled a team-best 16 digs.

"I really like the potential I see," said Young about her team's successful start to the season. "They're a fun group and I just think it's going to be a fun year for us."

CCC will be back in action this weekend at the two-day Northeast Community College tournament in Norfolk. On Friday at 5 p.m., the Raiders will take on Marshalltown Community College, followed by a 7 p.m. showdown with Colby Community College. On Saturday, CCC takes on Lake Region State College at 11 a.m. and wraps up against Fort Scott Community College at 3 p.m.
