The 9^th ranked Central Community College volleyball team began its 2017 campaign with a 3-0 victory over Concordia JV in Seward on Wednesday night. Final scores read 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22.

CCC's Maeghan Pieper totaled eight kills, while Paxton Throne amassed 24 assists. Jacie Laetsch tallied 18 digs.

"It was great to kick off the 2017 season with a win," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "We struggled getting into a rhythm offensively, but still managed to play above it and work together to get the win."

The 1-0 Raiders will travel to Kansas this weekend for the inaugural Wichita Sports Forum Kickoff Volleyball Tournament. On Friday at 4 p.m., CCC will meet sixth-ranked Coffeyville CC, followed by a 6 p.m. match against 10^th ranked Cowley CC. On Saturday, the Raiders will meet second-ranked Lincoln Land CC at 9 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. meeting with 17^th ranked Johnson County CC.
