Dorn and Pieper Named All-American

Central Community College is pleased to announced that volleyball setter Riley Dorn (left) and middle hitter Maeghan Pieper (right) have earned NJCAA Division II Volleyball All-American honors. Dorn and Pierper are among 30 players to earn the distinction.

Dorn, a sophomore from Filley, was named NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. A two-year starter for the Raiders, Dorn became CCC's career leader for assists with 3,318. She also holds the record for assists in a season with 1,799.

"Riley has been the quarterback of our offense for the past two seasons and has done a tremendous job of getting our hitters the ball," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "It is really gratifying to see her add this honor to her list of accomplishments at Central Community College. As a coach, you ask a lot of your setter and she has shouldered and accepted a lot of responsibility and has handled it with poise and grace. I'm extremely proud of her."

Pieper, a freshman from Columbus, was named NJCAA Division II All-American Honorable Mention. During her inaugural season, Pieper recorded 324 kills and 358 digs.

"It's a great honor for Maeghan to be named All-American Honorable Mention in her freshman season," said Young. "Maeghan was slowed by an injury about midway through the season and we had to alter many of her practices and hold her out of the front row at times, but she still managed 324 kills for us and was always a threat at the net. Maeghan is a competitor and emerged as a leader for us as a freshman."

The Raiders finished the 2016 season with a mark of 30-11 and made their sixth consecutive NJCAA Division II national tournament appearance.
