Artichokes Defeat Raiders in NJCAA DII National Tournament

The CCC Volleyball team lost 3-0 to Scottsdale Community College in opening round action of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. The Fighting Artichokes won by finals of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-16.

"Overall, we just didn't get into a good rhythm in the entire match," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "We had opportunities to win set one, despite having several unforced errors. We let our frustration of set one follow us into set two and three and just never took control of the match. It's unfortunate because it just wasn't our best match and our players are disappointed with the results."

Amber Anderson led the Raiders in kills with nine, while Riley Dorn totaled 29 assists. Sydney Yong finished with 11 digs.

Up next, CCC will meet the Community College of Rhode Island, which lost to top-seed Parkland, 25-10, 25-12 and 25-10. The Raiders and the Lady Knights will play on Friday at 11 a.m.
