Volleyball: Raiders Make It Six In A Row

The Central Community College Volleyball team recorded its 17th shutout victory of the 2016 season with a 3-0 decision over Northeast Community College – 25-22, 25-22, 25-23. The win was the sixth straight win for the Raiders, giving them a 25-9 mark for the 2016 regular season.

"This was a great win for the Raiders over Northeast," said head coach Mary Young. "We overcame a six-point deficit in set 3, showing great resolve in battling back to get the win."

Maeghan Pieper and Keshia Ellwanger each tallied a dozen kills to lead the Raiders. Riley Dorn finished with 39 assists, while Sydney Yong, Dorn and Pieper each totaled 14 digs. The Hawks were led in kills by Tabitha Kander and Courtni Kunz with 11 apiece, while Jordan Vogt recorded 32 assists and 16 digs.

The Raiders now head into the Region IX Tournament as the number one seed. CCC will take on the winner of the North Platte CC-Southeast CC play-in game. The tournament will take place at Southeast Community College in Beatrice on Friday, October 28, and Saturday, October 29.
