Volleyball: The Raiders Cook McCook

The Central Community College Volleyball team took the first of two key road matches with a 3-1 victory at McCook on Wednesday night. With the win, the Raiders are now 14-5 overall.

The Raiders took the opening set, 25-22, followed by the Indians taking the second set, 25-18. McCook began the third set by taking a 7-0 advantage, before CCC responded and eventually took the set, 25-22. The Raiders sealed the deal by winning the final set, 25-17.

"McCook is an improved team, and their outside hitting was difficult to deal, but we survived," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "When we came back from the 7-0 deficit in set three, we were able to get back into the flow and pull out the win."

Emma Coenen led the Raiders in kills with nine, while Riley Dorn logged 17 assists with Sydney Yong adding 14. Kit Wells finished with six digs.

CCC remains in western Nebraska for a Region IX match this evening at North Platte Community College. The Lady Knights are 7-9 on the season, but Young says the despite North Platte's record, CCC is going to have to be more disciplined tonight.

"North Platte always gives us their best match," said Young. "When they see green across the court, they always come to play. They've struggled a bit this season, but I never count them out."

Tonight's match gets underway at 6 p.m. and a live internet stream of the game will be available at www.npccknights.com.
