Women’s Soccer: Allen County Defeats CCC

The Central Community College women's soccer team lost to Allen County (Kan.) Community College, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Raider Field.

The first half looked like it might go scoreless until two-and-a-half-minutes remaining when the Red Devils scored on a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. The Raiders were unable to answer back and the halftime score was 1-0.

In the second half, Allen County scored a pair of goals before Mathilde Holm-Kriste scored CCC's first goal in the 85th minute for a 3-1 deficit, which turned out to be the final score.

"In the last five minutes of the game, we actually did some stuff," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "We found the feet we were looking for. We found the space we were trying to hit. Unfortunately, it took 85 minutes to do that. We've got to figure out a way to do that for the first 85 minutes and not get into that situation."

The loss gives the Raiders a 2-5 mark on the season heading into Wednesday's home game against Hesston College. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
