Women’s Soccer: Raiders Outlast Broncbusters

The Central Community College women's soccer team improved to 2-0 with a 3-2 win over Garden City Community College on Saturday at the Raider Soccer Complex.

Mei Hou (pictured left) scored her first goal of her CCC career 13 minutes into the contest off the assist of Reagan Folda to put the Raiders up, 1-0. Seven minutes later, Garden City's Catherine Small evened the game at 1-1 with a goal off the assist of Crystal Ruvalcaba. In the 33rd minute, CCC's Madison Hurst found the back of the net, with Hou assisting, to put the Raiders back in front, 2-1.

In the 79th minute, the Raiders went up by a 3-1 count when Madison Garrow recorded an unassisted goal. Some five minutes afterward, the Broncbusters pulled to within a goal as Noeli Munoz scored with Small assisting. Garden City's attempts to even the score fell short as time ran out.

"It was a nice win, said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "I thought the girls played hard and I could see an improvement from Thursday's win over St. Mary's JV.  It was nice to be able to compare us to another junior college team and come out with the victory."

CCC goalie Rachel Willette made five saves on the day, while Garden City netminder Kaylee Keller logged a pair of saves.

Up next, the Raiders will travel to York on Tuesday to take on York College JV. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
