Women’s Basketball: Raiders Hold Off Bobcats

The Central Community College women's basketball team held off a furious comeback by Southeast Community College for an 89-87 win in Lincoln on Saturday.

The Raiders led by double digits in both the first and second halves of the contest and each time, the Bobcats whittled the lead down to single digits. The latter comeback came in the fourth quarter as Southeast outscored CCC, 29-18. The final shot of the game was a successful three-point bucket by Matalynn Campbell, who led all scorers with 30 points. However, time expired and the Raiders left town with the two-point victory.

Aubry Saleapaga (pictured, #22) led four CCC players in double figures with a team-high 23 points. Nikie Nelson logged a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Alyssa Reardon with 16 points while Makenna Pelster finished with 13 points. CCC reserves outscored Southeast reserves, 17-4.

The Raiders and the Bobcats will meet again on Wednesday night in the first round of the Region 9 tournament. CCC will host the playoff game and tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse. The winner of the first-round game will meet North Platte Community College on Saturday for the tournament championship and a ticket to the district title game.
