Women’s Basketball: Bulldogs Beat Raiders

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost to the Concordia University JV, 98-84, at the Raider Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

In the opening quarter, the visiting Bulldogs went on an 11-2 run to take a 17-8 lead en route to a 24-16 at the end of the period. The CCC defense clamped down while the offense picked up steam for a 16-0 spurt to take a 29-24 advantage. The remainder of the quarter was close, and Concordia led 47-42 at halftime.

In the third stanza, the Bulldogs went back up by double digits and held the Raiders scoreless for nearly four minutes before taking a 76-61 lead at the end of the quarter. Concordia continued its dominance in the fourth quarter and posted the 98-84 victory.

"I thought we competed hard for our first game," said CCC head coach Kasi Stoltz. "We really attacked the basket and got to the free throw line, which was good. Too many turnovers in the press led to easy baskets for them."

Nikie Nelson logged a double-double with 29 points and 15 rebounds. Alyssa Reardon scored 14 points off the bench while Emily Hebenstreit scored a dozen points.

The 0-1 Raiders will return to action on Saturday with a 2 p.m. road contest at North Central Missouri College.
