Women’s Basketball: Raiders Beat Bobcats

The Central Community College women's basketball team defeated the Peru State JV, 74-63, on Friday in Peru.

The contest was close through three quarters before the Raiders pulled ahead by outscoring the Bobcats, 23-15, in the fourth quarter.

"We came out a little sluggish and it took us a while to get going," said CCC head coach Kasi Stoltz. "However, once we were able to run in transition in the second half, we were able to sustain the lead."

Madisen Jelinek (pictured) logged a double-double with 31 points and 14 rebounds. Nikie Nelson made five three-point buckets and finished with 22 points.

"Madi Jelinek was very efficient, and she scored when we got the ball to her," said Stoltz. "I thought our point guards had great passes inside and Nikie was able to stretch the defense with her three-point shooting."

The win snaps the Raider's two-game slide and gives them a record of 9-11.

Up next, CCC will take on the York University JV on Monday at 6 p.m. in York.
