Women’s Basketball: Bulldogs Defeat Raiders

The Central Community College women's basketball team lost to Concordia University JV, 85-65, on Tuesday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

The Bulldogs owned a 27-13 lead at the end of the first quarter while the Raiders took the second period, 27-20, and trailed 47-40 at halftime. However, Concordia outscored CCC 24-9 in the third quarter and the Raiders were unable to recover.

"I thought we came out a little flat to start the game," said CCC head coach Kasi Stoltz. "In the second quarter, we started to get some transition buckets and rebounds to get it within seven points at half. However, too many turnovers and missed shots in the third quarter hurt us in the end and we just couldn't dig into the lead."

Nikie Nelson led the Raiders in scoring with 24 points while Amy Mitchell finished with 20 points. Madisen Jelinek pulled down 14 rebounds.

With the loss, CCC is 7-9 on the season heading into Monday's contest against Midland University JV. The Raiders and the Warriors will meet at 6 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
