Women’s Basketball: Ramada Classic Recap

The Central Community College women's basketball team hosted the Ramada Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Raiders won both games and improved to 2-1. A recap of both games is below. CCC is back in action on Monday night at Little Priest Tribal College. Game time is at 6 p.m.

Game 1 vs. Midland University JV

The Raiders battled back from 14 points down to defeat the Vikings, 69-67. CCC trailed 59-45 at the end of the third period before outscoring Midland JV, 24-8, in the final stanza to take the win.

Defensively, the Raiders outrebounded the Vikings, 44-28, including a dozen offensive rebounds. CCC also forced 13 Midland turnovers.

Monica Brooks led the Raiders in scoring with 23 points, while Isabel Diaz scored 13 points. Bailey Lehr rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points.

Game 2 vs. Des Moines Area Community College

The Raiders employed a stifling defense in a 72-64 win over the Bears. CCC outrebounded DMACC, 41-28, and held the Bears to 31 percent in field goal shooting.

"Our team played well against DMACC," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We are slowly getting better ball movement and making adjustments on the defensive end. It was a great team win and everyone was engaged and brought great energy throughout the game."

Brooks logged a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Diaz finished with 14 points.
