Women’s Basketball: Raiders Hold Off Knights

The Central Community College women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 68-62 victory at North Platte Community College on Friday night.

The Raiders clamped down defense early as they outscored the Knights, 14-2, in the first quarter. NPCC had the upper hand in the second period, but the Raiders still led at the half, 29-23.

The Knights outscored the Raiders, 21-12, in the third quarter and went on to take a 56-49 lead in the fourth period. However, CCC rattled off a 12-5 run to regain the lead and held on for the six-point win.

"I was proud of how our team stuck together and finished the game on a positive run to give us the lead at the end," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "It is always hard to play on the road because the effort was good on both ends of the floor."

Four CCC players scored in double figures with Isabel Diaz leading the charge with 18 points. Day zchay lon Gardner finished with 17 points. Monica Brooks and Alexis Ramaekers each logged a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and 15 points and 14 points, respectively.

The win gives the Raiders a 3-10 record.

CCC will return to action on Thursday with a home game against Doane JV. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Raider Fieldhouse.
