Central Community College women's basketball is pleased to announce the signing of NyaBuony Gatkek, a 2018 graduate of Central High School in Omaha.

Gatkek won the Eagles' Defensive Player of the Year award for the 2017-18 season. One of her best performances occurred in Central's game against Norfolk on Dec. 9, when she logged 10 rebounds and a steal. Gatkek is the cousin of Nyajok Pal, who has also signed to play at CCC.

"NyaBuony is going to be a great asset to the team," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "She is really going to help us on the defense end of the floor, being both a good defender and a good rebounder. I am very excited for her potential."

Gatkek will be an academic transfer major at CCC. She is the daughter of Nyadeng Chol of Omaha.
