Women’s Basketball: Raiders Make It Two Straight

Paxton Throne scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Central Community College women's basketball team to an 81-79 win over McCook Community College on Saturday.

The game was close throughout as evidenced by a 37-37 deadlock at halftime and a 54-all tie after three quarters. The Raiders outscored the Indians, 27-25, in the final stanza which was just enough for the two-point win.

"I am very proud of how we came out and competed after a huge win on Friday," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "McCook was a very physical and athletic team and I thought we did a good job of controlling the boards and moving the ball on offense. We stayed patient and worked together to get the win."

Three other CCC players scored in double figures. Quenshae Love recorded 24 points, while Payton Blanke scored 13 points. Maddy Wolfe added a dozen points.

The win gives the Raiders a mark of 7-18.

CCC will be back in action on Wednesday with a road venture to Little Priest Tribal College. The game starts at 5:30 p.m. and will be played at Winnebago Public School Gymnasium.
