Women’s Basketball: Raiders Snap Losing Streak

Maddy Wolfe scored a game-high 29 points to lift the Central Community College women's basketball team to a 71-67 win at North Platte Community College on Saturday. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak and gives the Raiders a 4-13 overall mark and a 1-0 record in Region IX play.

CCC opened the game on a 9-4 run before the Lady Knights were able to tie the score at 16 at the end of the first quarter. NPCC then went on a 12-4 run to start the second quarter to go up 28-20. The Raiders then rattled off an 8-4 run to trail by four at halftime, 32-28.

Central outscored North Platte, 23-16, in the third quarter resulting in a 51-all deadlock at the end of the period. Trailing 60-59 in the fourth period, CCC's Paxton Throne scored a bucket which gave the Raiders the lead for good en route to the 71-67 victory.

"I'm so very proud of the girls, they fought and just kept believing in each other the entire game," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "It was a great win for us."

Wolfe finished with a double-double as she hauled in 12 rebounds to go along with the 29 points. Payton Blanke also logged a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Throne finished with 10 points.

The Raiders return to action on Monday night at Raider Fieldhouse with a meeting against Midland University JV. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
