Postseason Honors for CCC Women’s Basketball

Four members of the Central Community College women's basketball team have received postseason honors.

Teisha Snyder and Payton Blanke were named to the All-Region IX team for the regular season, while Blanke and Maddy Wolfe were named to the Region IX All-Tournament team.

Snyder and Blanke were named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference team, while Quenshae Love earned Honorable Mention honors.

Finishing ninth in NJCAA Division II scoring, Snyder led the Raiders in points and steals with 20.7 points and 1.9 steals per contest. She also averaged.7.5 rebounds per game and blocked a team-best 11 shots. Snyder was named as the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week of Nov. 28 through Dec. 4. In two games, she averaged 30.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists.

"We always knew she could score, but she definitely improved on the defensive end," said CCC head coach Mike Kroupa. "Her freshman year she at times was a liability (on defense) but this year, she was an excellent rebounder and read the ball very well off the rim."

Blanke started all 29 games for the Raiders and led the team in rebounding with 8.8 boards per game. She hauled in 255 rebounds, 84 of which were offensive. Blanke scored 11.5 points and dished out 1.9 assists per game. She led the Raiders in three-point shooting percentage at 36.5 percent. Blanke tied with Snyder in leading CCC in double-doubles with six.

"Payton rebounds the heck out of the ball," said Kroupa. "She is a very smart player and she really came along. It took her a little bit of time like all freshmen, but we were really excited about the way she was playing at the end."

Wolfe played in all 29 games, averaging 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest. In the Region IX championship game at North Platte Community College, Wolfe led the Raiders in scoring with 25 points.

"Maddy earned her starting spot about midway through the season and pretty much held it down after winter break," said Kroupa. "She gives us a post presence even though she's only about 5-9 or 5-10."

Love played in 27 games, averaging 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Her assist average was tops for the team. Love was the top scorer for CCC in two games – 14 points in the season opener against York JV and 22 points at Little Priest Tribal College on Feb. 1.

"Quenshae pretty much started all season and continued to improve throughout the year," said Kroupa.

The Raiders finished the 2016-17 campaign with an overall mark of 14-15.
