Softball: Sophomore Day Sweep

The Central Community College softball team won both games of a doubleheader with McCook Community College at Raider Field on Wednesday. A recap of both games is below.

Nine sophomores were honored in their final home regular season games of their CCC careers. They were Tabitha Cooney, Myah Essman, Addison Heule, Addison Kudron, Brianne Lawver, Paxton Lusche, McKinna Moats, Andrea Palma and Sasha Perrin.

"I'm extremely happy for the sophomores who played their last game at Raider Field in front of a ton of family, friends and fans to go out on a positive note," said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon.

The Raiders are 20-13 on the season and will return to action on Friday with a pair of road games at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m.

Game 1: CCC 4  McCook 0

Addison Kudron pitched a seven-inning shutout, collected five strikeouts and held the Indians to two hits. With the win, Kudron improved to 10-6 on the season. Meanwhile, McKinna Moats scored a pair of runs, including a homerun, and batted in a pair of runs.

Game 2: CCC 6  McCook 3

The Raiders built a 3-0 lead over four innings before the Indians scored their first run in the fifth inning as CCC went on to post a 6-3 victory. Kudron once again went seven innings in the circle and picked up her 11th win of the year. She also recorded two RBI while Moats scored a pair of runs as did Andrea Palma.

"I'm very proud of the way the team competed, especially after having 10 days of no games," said Simon. "That was out of our control."
