Men’s Soccer: Raiders and Red Devils Tie

The Central Community College men's soccer team and Allen County (Kan.) Community College battled to a 1-1 tie on Saturday at Raider Field.

Following a scoreless first half, CCC got on the scoreboard first with a goal six minutes into the second half. Romano Moscato found the back of the net off the assist of Joseba Zabala, giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Allen County evened the match at 1-1 when Patrick Alouidor scored on a penalty kick. Neither team could score from that point on, and the game ended with the 1-1 deadlock. CCC goalie Jesse Wubbs played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves.

"We played the #15 team in the nation and tied them having all of the clear opportunities to score," said CCC head coach Luis Pulido. "This shows me that we can compete in the region and be a good team, but that our lack of scoring the chances we create could be a big downfall for us. I am hoping that once we get those goals and begin to get the results, things will change."

The 3-4-2 Raiders will return home for a Wednesday afternoon meeting with Hesston College at 4:30 p.m.
