Men’s Soccer: CCC Posts Weekend Split

The Central Community College men's soccer team went 1-1 following a loss at Iowa Lakes Community College on Saturday, and a win at Dakota County Technical College on Saturday. A recap of both contests is below. The Raiders are 3-2 on the season and stay on the road for Saturday's game at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.

Game 1 vs. Iowa Lakes Community College

The Raiders suffered their first shutout of the season as the Lakers recorded a 5-0 victory. Iowa Lakes logged two goals in the first half and three in the second half. CCC goalie Rodolfo Ramirez faced 14 shots and finished with nine saves.

"We matched up against a very fast and experienced team," said CCC head coach Luis Pulido. "Iowa Lakes is a top 10 NJCAA Division I team, so it is always good for the guys to see the various levels that are out here and where we match up with them."

Game 2 vs. Dakota County Technical College

The Raiders scored eight unanswered goals in an 8-2 win over the Blue Knights.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, CCC's Ivan Lopez scored a goal with Archie Alvarez on the assist to cut the DCTC lead to 2-1. Israel Robledo scored his first goal of the season to tie the score at 2-2 with Miguel Raymundo assisting. Lopez and Robledo teamed up for the next goal to give the Raiders a 3-2 lead. CCC's Yeysen Marino-Chavez scored the first of three goals with seven minutes to play in the first half for a 4-2 lead which held through halftime.

Kadin Reese commenced the Central scoring in the second half with the first of two goals to extend the lead to 5-2. Marino-Chavez and Reese each logged unassisted goals to increase CCC's lead to 7-2. Marino-Chavez scored the final goal with three minutes to play for the final score of 8-2.

"This was a good game in terms of the decisions we were making with the ball at our feet," said Pulido. "The guys wanted to have the ball at their feet and it seemed like a lot of things went our way in this game."
