Men’s Soccer: PKs End CCC’s Season

The Central Community College men's soccer team saw the season come to an end with a loss to Allen County (Kan.) Community College, 5-4 on penalty kicks, in the region semi-finals.

Neither team could score during the first half and the game remained scoreless until the 75th minute when CCC's Ivan Lopez found the back of the net to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Charlie Orsler provided the assist. The Red Devils responded with 6:22 remaining in regulation when Boikaego Mvaakanyi scored a goal to make it a 1-1 tie. Mathew Akidaug made the assist. The 1-1 deadlock remained intact through the rest of regulation and through two overtime sessions. The Red Devils moved on in the playoffs as they bested the Raiders in penalty kicks, 5-4.

CCC netminder Rodolfo Ramirez finished with four saves while Allen County goalkeeper Samuel Montanez posted seven saves.

The Raiders conclude the 2021 season with a mark of 9-7-2.
