Men’s Soccer: CCC Sweeps York JV

For the second time in a week, the Central Community College men's soccer team defeated York JV. The Raiders posted 6-1 final over the Panthers on Sunday in York. Combined with Tuesday's 5-0 CCC win, the Raiders sweep the season series with the Panthers.

CCC's Nathan Kutalu scored the first goal in the 10th minute off the assist of Peterson Costa (pictured) to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Marcus Horwood scored seven minutes later for a 2-0 lead with Kevin Toledo assisting. Costa scored his first goal of the game in the 29th minute with Toledo again on the assist. One minute later, the Panthers answered back with a goal to make the score 3-1 in favor of CCC. Arthur Oliver closed out the Raiders' first half scoring with an unassisted goal in the 36th minute and CCC went on to lead 4-1 at halftime.

Heber Escobar tallied an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute to extend CCC's lead, 5-1. In the 78th minute, Costa closed out the scoring with a goal assisted by Luis Neave to make it a 6-1 lead. The Raiders kept the Panthers at bay for the rest of the contest to take the 6-1 final.

Toledo and Brady Miller each saw action at goalie for the Raiders and both logged three saves apiece.

The win boosts CCC's record to 8-5.

The Raiders will be back in Colorado for the next two games. On Friday, CCC plays at Trinidad State Junior College at 4 p.m. The Raiders and the Trojans met in Columbus on Sept. 14 with CCC winning an overtime battle, 4-3.

On Saturday, the Raiders will meet Otero Junior College at 3 p.m. The Raiders will be looking to avenge last month's 4-1 home loss to the Rattlers.
