Men’s Soccer: Raiders Snap Three-Game Slide

The Central Community College men's soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-0 win over York JV on Tuesday at Raider Soccer Field.

Marcus Horwood (pictured) scored the lone goal of the first half in the 20th minute with Peterson Costa on the assist to take a 1-0 lead on the Panthers.

Five minutes into the second half, CCC's Nathan Kutalu scored the game's second goal with Costa once again providing the assist, extending the lead to 2-0. A pair of unassisted goals came next as Marcus Horwood found the back of the net in the 55th minute, followed by Kevin Toledo's solo shot 10 minutes later for a 4-0 lead. Heber Escobar capped the CCC scoring with a goal in the 75th minute with Costa recording his third assist of the afternoon.

CCC goalies Brady Miller and Toledo combined for two saves.

"We had a slow start only putting away one goal in the first half, but I'm glad we were able to pick up the energy in the second half," said CCC head coach Hawken Hanna. "Moving forward, having the right energy and focus for a full 90 minutes is something we need to improve on. This was a nice win for the team after a few tough losses last week."

With the win, the Raiders are at 6-5 on the season.

Up next, CCC will meet Doane JV in Crete at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The Raiders defeated the Tigers, 5-0, on Aug. 30 in Columbus.
