Men’s Soccer: Rattlers Rule The Raiders

The Central Community College men's soccer team lost to Otero Junior College, 4-1, at Raider Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.

Otero jumped out of the gate with a score one minute into the contest as Daniel Trawick scored off the assist of Arturo Chairez to make it 1-0. In the 15th minute, Bryson Chiles found the back of the net with Chairez assisting and the Rattlers were up, 2-0. With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Otero's Diogo Santos scored off the assist of Emiliano Cardona to extend the lead to 3-0. Time ran out on the first half and the Raiders were trailing by three goals at halftime.

The next goal did not occur until the 80th minute when OJC's Sebastian Garcia booted a goal off the assist of Daniel Trawick to give the Rattlers a 4-0. CCC's Marcus Horwood prevented the shutout with an unassisted goal with two minutes remaining in regulation for the 4-1 final.

Otero goalies Emmanuelle Rodriguez and Peter Pesic each recorded a pair of saves, while CCC goalie Ruben Gozalez finished with four saves.

"Our best team didn't show up today," said CCC head coach Hawken Hanna. "The guys worked hard, but came out a little slow and were never able to make up for it."

With the loss, the Raiders are now 5-3 on the season.

Up next, CCC will travel to Sterling, Colo., on Friday to take on Northeastern Junior College. The Plainsmen are 7-3-1 following a 6-0 shutout of Gillette College on Sunday. Kick off for Friday's game is set for 1 p.m. MDT.
