Men’s Soccer: Horwood Leads CCC To Victory

Central Community College sophomore Marcus Horwood (pictured) scored four goals in a 5-0 shutout of Doane JV at Raider Soccer Field on Thursday.

Horwood's first goal came in the 10th minute with Giberto Rodriguez on the assist and the Raiders led, 1-0. In the 35th minute, Horwood 2-0 in favor of CCC when he teamed up with Peterson Costa for another score.

Horwood began the second half much like he did the first half by booting the ball into the net with 10 minutes gone by. The unassisted goal extended the Raiders' lead to 3-0. Five minutes later, Costa scored a CCC goal off the assist of Luis Tovar to make it a 4-0 CCC advantage. Tovar provided the assist on the game's final score as Horwood scored with in the 65th minute for what turned out to be the final score, 5-0.

With the win, the Raiders are now 2-1 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday with a contest at Northeast Community College. The Hawks are 1-1 on the season following a 1-0 loss to Daytona State College on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
