Men's Soccer: Raiders Score First Shutout of 2017

A pair of second-half goals and strong defense lifted the Central Community College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Northeast Community College on Friday at Wilderness Park.

In the 60th minute, CCC's Breno Barbosa scored the game's first goal off the assist of Luis Arcos for a 1-0 lead. Some 15 minutes later, the Raiders tacked on another goal off the foot of Igor Mendes Pires, his second of the season. The goal was set up on Peterson Costa's assist.

CCC goalie Jose Gonzalez played the entire game and recorded one save on two shots on goal. Northeast net minders Massimiliano Simonazzi and Francisco Nuno combined for five saves on seven shots on goal.

With the win, the Raiders are 2-0, while the Eagles drop to 0-2.

Up next, CCC will travel to Hastings JV on Sunday.
