Men’s Basketball: CCC Wins on Sophomore Night

The Central Community College men's basketball team defeated North Platte Community College, 85-66, on Friday night at Raider Fieldhouse.

CCC sophomores Roman Behrens (second from right), Tre'vion Crawford (second from left), Nathan Frost (left) and Cooper Pratt (right) were honored before the game, the last regular season home contest.

The game was a tale of two halves as the Knights led at halftime, 41-35. The Raiders owned the second half as they held North Platte to 25 points.

"We struggled defensively in the first half with transition defense, getting matched up and keeping them off the offensive boards," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "We did a much better job defensively in the second half, which created offense for us."

Crawford and Frost led the Raiders in scoring with 23 and 20 points, respectively. Behrens logged a double-double with 12points and 11 assists, while Dwight Glover totaled 11 points.

"Overall, I was really happy that we were able to send our sophomores out with a win in their last regular season home game at CCC," said Ritzdorf.

The win was the sixth straight for the Raiders. CCC posted a 19-10 record for the 2019-20 regular season.

Up next, CCC will host Southeast Community College in the Region IX championship game on Saturday, Feb. 29, at Raider Fieldhouse. Tip-off for the title game is set for 4:30 p.m. CCC split two games against the Storm during the regular season. SCC won the first meeting on Jan. 31, a 91-88 overtime win in Columbus. The Raiders got even on Feb. 15 with a 109-100 double-overtime win in Beatrice.
